White House Nowruz Reception

The Nomad Dancers were honored to be invited by First Lady Michelle Obama to perform at The White House celebration of Nowruz. They performed a dance in Azeri style, and an exciting fusion dance featuring the typical frame drums of Iran. In representing the ancient dance traditions of Iran, Nomad Dancers felt humbled by the enthusiastic applause of the assembled dignitaries and leaders within the Iranian-American community, and inspired to continue with their goal of crossing borders and bridging cultures, promoting world peace and coexistence among nations.

Smithsonian Nowruz Celebration

The Nomad Dancers will join the annual celebration of the Persian New Year, Nowruz, at the Smithsonian Institution's Freer and Sackler Galleries in Washington, DC. The Nomad Dancers will perform traditional Persian dances in authentic costumes, while mingling with museum patrons. This is a great opportunity for families to learn about Persian culture.

Caravansary

The Foundation’s contributions will enhance the museum’s outreach to families under the theme “Live Green Love Local” which will highlight the many benefits of recycling and supporting local institutions. Visitors can expect to gain some firsthand insights into Azerbaijani traditions, including Azerbaijan’s significant contributions to the world of textiles.
